Privacy policy
Last updated 4 August 2026
The short version. LookNBooks has no accounts, no login, and no database of visitors. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number. Trips you save stay in your own browser and never reach us. What this page mostly explains is the third parties β our host, the flight-search widget, the map β that necessarily see something when your browser loads a page.
1. Who we are
LookNBooks (looknbooks.com) is an independent travel-information website operated from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. We compare travel options and hand you off to the operator or travel provider to book. We never take payment from you β see the Terms of use.
This policy is written to meet Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. What we collect directly
Nothing that identifies you. There is no sign-up, no contact form, no newsletter and no comment section on this site.
Some features store data in your browser's localStorage. This never leaves your device and we cannot read it:
| Key | What it holds | Set when |
|---|---|---|
lnb-saved-trips | Origin, destination, mode and date of trips you saved | You press "Save this trip" |
lnb-plan | Your itinerary: title, days, stop names, times and notes | You use the trip planner |
Clearing your browser's site data for looknbooks.com erases all of it permanently. There is no copy anywhere else.
Removed on 4 August 2026. An earlier version of the booking panel offered to email you a reminder and stored the address in your browser under lnb-email and lnb-reminders. There was never a mail system behind it, so no reminder was ever sent and no address ever left your device. We removed the feature rather than keep collecting something we could not use, and the site now deletes those two leftover keys automatically the next time you visit.
3. Third parties that receive data when you use this site
Loading any web page reveals your IP address and browser details to whoever serves the files. Here is everyone involved, what triggers them, and where they are:
| Who | Why | What they receive | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts the site and provides Web Analytics | IP address, user-agent, page requested, timing. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless and does not track you between sites. | Global / USA |
| Travelpayouts (Aviasales) β flight search widget | Powers the live flight search on Compare. This is also how the site earns money. | Your search terms (airports, dates, travellers), IP, and browser details. It sets its own cookies and analytics β see Β§4. | Outside Canada |
| OpenStreetMap / Nominatim | Draws the map and looks up the places you add on Plan | The place name you typed, plus your IP. Only when you add a stop. | EU |
| Google Fonts | Serves the two typefaces | IP address and browser details | Global / USA |
| Unsplash | Serves photographs | IP address and browser details | Global / USA |
| Travel operators & affiliate networks | Only when you click through to book | Standard referral information identifying LookNBooks as the referrer. From that point their own privacy policy applies. | Varies |
4. Cookies and similar storage
LookNBooks itself sets no cookies. We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking of our own.
However, the flight-search widget on the Compare page does set cookies once that page loads, and because it runs inside our page some of them are stored under the looknbooks.com name even though they are Travelpayouts', not ours. We think you should be told exactly which:
_sp_idand_sp_sesβ Snowplow analytics identifiers used by the widget to count visitors and sessions.tpwl_currency,tpwl_localeβ remember the currency and language you picked in the widget.nuidβ set on the widget's ownavsplow.comdomain.snowplowOutQueue_sp,__wlccβ the widget's own browser storage.
These appear only on the Compare page. Every other page on this site is cookie-free. You can block them in your browser settings; the rest of the site will keep working, though the live flight search will not.
5. Transfers outside Canada
PIPEDA requires us to tell you plainly: because the parties in Β§3 operate outside Canada, information handled by them β including your IP address β is processed outside Canada, principally in the United States and the European Union. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access by foreign courts and law-enforcement or national-security authorities. We have no control over that and cannot exempt it.
6. Why we are allowed to do this
We rely on your implied consent for the ordinary operation of a website you have chosen to visit: serving pages, loading fonts and images, and counting visits in aggregate. Because we hold no accounts and ask for no personal details, there is nothing to consent to beyond that. Where a feature does more β geocoding a stop you typed, or running a flight search β it only runs when you actively use it.
7. How long anything is kept
- In your browser: until you clear it. It is yours, not ours.
- Cloudflare logs and analytics: retained by Cloudflare under their own retention schedule; we see only aggregate counts, never individual visitors.
- By us, on a server: nothing. We operate no application server and no visitor database.
8. Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may ask what personal information an organisation holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, and complain about how it was handled. In our case the honest answer to the first question is that we hold none β there is no account to look up, and everything the site remembers is already on your own device where you can inspect or delete it.
To exercise a right, or if you believe this page is inaccurate, contact us (Β§10). If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To delete everything this site has stored on your device: open your browser settings, find cookies and site data, search for looknbooks.com, and remove it.
9. Children
This site is intended for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly direct content at children or collect information from them β and since we collect no personal information from anyone, there is nothing held about a child either.
10. Contact
Privacy questions, corrections and complaints: privacy@looknbooks.com. We aim to respond within 30 days, the period PIPEDA sets.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how anything works β particularly if we ever add a feature that collects personal information β we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be summarised here rather than quietly edited in.
